I wrote two other pieces about Egypt for the Huffington Post blog.
This was before I found out, from Nate Silver’s post in the New York Times, that no one actually reads the Huffington Post blog, and that the fair market value of my blog posts is the price of a Hershey bar with almonds, maybe a little less. You might think I’d be disappointed, but in fact I thought Nate’s analysis was sound, and his explanation fits pretty well with my own experience, and my own view of the market value of off-hand opinion and comedy pieces published on internet sites. It’s not like collections of topical opinion columns from unknown writers are flying off book store shelves, and in my experience the fair market value of a short comedy piece written for the internet is from zero to $50, so Mr. Silver’s assessment is not far off. Anyway, in response to Nate’s article, I wrote a 3,000 word essay. It’s currently on the hard drive of my computer, another location where no one will ever read it.
Oh, I almost forgot: My other Huff Po pieces about Egypt, in case you missed them:
